To strengthen research capabilities, Firebird is organizing a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Research Methodology in Social Sciences – A Beginner’s Approach on April 2, 2022. Led by experts Dr. P. Srinivas Rao, Dr. Karpagavalli G., and Dr. D. Dilip, the FDP will provide hands-on training in research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical tools. This initiative aims to equip faculty, researchers, and professionals with essential skills to enhance their academic and industry contributions.

Firebird was started with the objective of providing industry ready students on day one of graduation. An industry ready means they are aware and know the industry problems and ways to handle these situations on day one in the company. This can happen only if they are already trained in an industry setup. Thus the 70% program refers to all practical engagements designed to nurture leadership and all rounded personalities in PGDM. Firebird is probably the only MBA/PGDM institution in India where more than 40 % of revenue comes from corporate services as against student fee collections, bearing testimony to our claim of being the only truly industry-operated MBA/ PGDM program in this part of the country.

The focus would be given to imparting research skills among management research scholars, academic researchers, and industry professionals. This programme would be conducted only on campus.

During the last few decades, business environment has become increasingly turbulent and complex. The fast-changing business environment is continuously throwing up new challenges for all entities, be it macro or micro. This rapid change is significantly impacting effectiveness of teaching-learning process. Thus, research has acquired greater significance in today’s complex environment. Through research variety of problems can be solved new and opportunities can be explored. A hard-core research orientation is required amongst academicians, practitioners, and technocrats to stay ahead of fast changing times. In the light of present scenario, Firebird Institute of research in Management has planned one day FDP to encourage research.

The primary aim of the FDP is to provide the participants with insights and tools to conduct relevant research that would aid managerial decision-making and contribute to the body of knowledge in their various areas of interest. The FDP aims at developing analytical skills amongst the participants to enable them tackle myriad of problems in Economics, Finance, and Social Sciences etc. The purpose of this FDP provided an opportunity to the academicians to enhance their researching skills and understand research methodologies. The programme also aims to understand and recognize situations that require statistical analysis, learning how to select and apply appropriate techniques for the research. The FDP will consist of lectures and hands on practice sessions.

The entire program will be presided and executed under the leadership of Dr P. Srinivas Rao-Director, Firebird Institute of research in management, whose academic profile as follows:

Dr P. Srinivas Rao is a proficient professional with 30 years of experience in carving academic institutions through technology and strategic planning right from inception, covering various functional areas like academic administration, power branding, and integrated campus development. He spent his preliminary career with multinational corporations and started his academic journey in the mid of 1990. He was a Vice-President and CEO in reputed intuitions with international collaborations, Dean of the first global MBA program in India, coordinated academic exchange programs, attended many global summits and conferences in the Indian School of Business, BHU, IIFT, XLRI, IIM Kolkata, IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and leading institutions and universities of the country.

Dr.Srinivas has spent his last 30 years as a Regional Head in the corporate sector, HOD, Principal, Vice President, Dean, Director, Director-Technical campus, and Executive Dean for both general and technical institutions with a particular focus on integrated development. Some of the research areas of concentration are work-life balance, managing transfer of knowledge, crisis management, learning organizations, the impact of motivation, service marketing, tourism services. His current interest is in mentoring millions of students using technology in education and social media platforms and resourcing the right education inputs to the country's young minds. His academic credentials include MBA in Marketing, MBA in HR, and Ph.D. in management.

The firebird identifies top-notch resource persons in the field of research methodology whose profile is as follows:

Dr.Karpagavalli.G, Faculty, Dept. of Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar group of Institutions has completed her Engineering degree in the year 2003, Master of Business Administration in the year 2007 and completed Ph.D. in Management in the year 2018. Being a passionate Academician and having 18yrs. of Teaching & Academic Administration in the Department of Management Studies and around 7yrs of Research experience, she takes the credit of holding various positions like Academic coordinator, HOD for UG courses, Research Cell coordinator, PG program Coordinator, NAAC Coordinator, BOS member for Curriculum Design and External Examiner for various universities during her way of academic journey.

She is active in research and currently has 16 research papers published in various reputed journals and participation towards national level and international level conferences. She also has experienced being session chair for various National Conferences and as a Resource person for many National level Seminars.

Dr. D. Dilip MSc, MBA, MPhil, PhD is a renowned Statistician, currently working as a Professor, Firebird Institute of Research in Management, Coimbatore. He has more than nineteen years of rich research, consultancy, and teaching experience. He is a sincere and enthusiastic teacher in motivating the students to achieve their heights. He delivered more than 100 lectures in the field of statistics and conducted several FDPs and MDPs in Statistics and Data Analysis. He holds excellent skills in imparting practical applications of software such as SPSS, AMOS, SAS, R, Python and Tableau.

He published many research papers in peer reviewed Journal and guided many Ph.D. Scholars. He loved to work with data and has got passion to work with several tools related to analysis.
