When Is The Right Time To Pursue An MBA/PGDM

Overview :

According to study results on corporate hiring, 81% of the organizations employed MBA/PGDM graduates. Yes, there is a constant need for MBAs/PGDMs, but what is the correct approach to pursuing an MBA/PGDM? What time of year is ideal for earning an MBA/PGDM? Most students who want to get a management degree are struggling with these two issues.

Many individuals believe it is wasteful to wait a year or two for experience rather than seek an MBA/PGDM immediately after earning an engineering degree or a bachelor's degree. Others think that having experience is quite important when taking MBA/PGDM programs, especially when it comes to learning the subject matter.

When Is the Ideal Time to Start an MBA/PGDM ?

1) Straight After Graduation, Attending MBA/PGDM School!

There aren't many good reasons to earn an MBA/PGDM straight away rather than waiting two or more years. First of all, because you are already in the groove, you will be able to handle studying rapidly after graduation. Second, the demand for MBA/PGDM immediately after an undergraduate has increased somewhat in recent years. Thirdly, the placement chances for those with two to three years of experience and recent graduates are essentially the same. There would most likely be a discrepancy of 4-5 lakhs.

On the other hand, pursuing an MBA/PGDM without work experience has a number of drawbacks. Even though the curriculum will be the same for experienced students and recent graduates, the understanding and grasping capability will be lower than it is for experienced students.

Even though you encounter many real-world situations during your coursework, most employers only hire MBA/PGDM freshmen for entry-level positions if they lack experience. Last but not least, earning an MBA/PGDM from a prestigious university has the most benefit. The entrance examinations and processes for prestigious colleges will be difficult to prepare for.

2) Obtaining an MBA/PGDM Following Work Experience :

After three to five years of employment, there are several benefits to earning an MBA/PGDM. You first receive additional weight, either directly or indirectly. People with job experience are preferred by several organizations. Nevertheless, it would depend on the institutions you were applying to.

Secondly, because you are already familiar with the business culture and the complexities of the management side, you will be more equipped to understand teachings. Thirdly, businesses favor hiring candidates with work experience for senior-level or mid-senior-level leadership positions. As a result, businesses are prepared to pay MBA/PGDM graduates with experience greater CTCs.

The majority of top B schools provide "lateral placements," or positions reserved only for students with experience. After a few years of working, you would have some funds that you could put toward your MBA/PGDM.

Otherwise, you would have established a relationship of trust with the bank and a solid credit history, thanks to your years of expertise and wage credits. You'll find it simpler to obtain an educational loan to pay for your MBA/PGDM. Some uncommon businesses will totally fund your MBA/PGDM. The sort of MBA/PGDM chosen will typically be online or on weekends, with normal MBAs/PGDMs being rare exceptions. You may benefit from this risk-free advantage from your firm.

Your Goals, Schedule Your MBA/PGDM!

Whether pursuing an MBA/PGDM now or later in your career relies on your motive. There are two general reasons for it.

1) Take On Leadership Positions :

If you want to advance in your leadership position or if you are presently in a leadership position but want to become more effective, you will need an MBA/PGDM. In such cases, it's best to do an MBA/PGDM after gaining three to five years of work experience.

2) Change of Career :

People pursue MBAs/PGDMs in order to drastically alter their professional path. For instance, if someone is interested in the IT industry or has a degree in computers but wants to work in investment banking out of personal interest, they can pursue an MBA/PGDM in finance and land a job at a reputable financial institution with a high CTC. Career options after an MBA/PGDM are also quite appealing.

If you're going to shift industries anyhow, this scenario doesn't require a lot of industry experience. While enrolled in the MBA/PGDM program, you may get an edge by participating in various internships.

Let's Conclude :

Here are several situations when you can take up MBA/PGDM, as well as their benefits and drawbacks. Therefore, the best moment to enroll in an MBA/PGDM program will depend on your circumstances and motivation. We hope that this blog will assist you in making the best choice.
